John Muir Country Park, Dunbar, EH42 1TY. Tel: 01620 827459. Open all year. 11 miles south east, off the A1087 near West Barns. On bus route 120. Parking. The Park covers some of the most spectacular East Lothian coastline and is a haven for wildlife. From the Castle ruins in Dunbar to the Peffer Burn several miles to the north, the Park includes the Cliff Top Trail with fine views of the sea and the Bass Rock. The long sweep of Belhaven Bay, the River Tyne estuary and extensive areas of grassland, salt-marsh and woodland which supports a wide range of birds and plants.

Fly fishing for top quality trout on three beautifully situated lochs. Fly fishing only on Markle and Monastery lochs, totalling 10 acres. Kinloch loch is bait and fly fishing. Night time sessions are available by arrangement. Lochs easily accessible for bank fishing only.

Musselburgh Racecourse provides year-round great racing action with an average of 27 race days across the flat and jump racing season. On bus route 124. Raceland Karting & Paintball Centre, Upper Diamond, Gladsmuir, EH33 1EJ. Tel: 01875 853 550. Open daily, 10am – 9pm. 12 miles south west, on B6363. Parking. Scotland’s biggest karting and paintball centre. Exciting indoor and huge outdoor karting circuits (min. age, 8). Custom-built paintball play zone (min. age, 12).
